Glamping at Atwood Lake Park: Our Adventure Bandits Weekend in Ohio

Sometimes the trip is really about the people. We drove all the way up to Mineral City, Ohio to spend a weekend with friends who basically feel like family, at the Adventure Bandits glampout at Atwood Lake Park. Between live music, cornhole, an 80s dance party, and miles of e-bike trails, it was three days of pure RV-community fun. Here is how the weekend went.

Is Atwood Lake Park worth a visit?

Yes, especially for RVers who love a community vibe. Atwood Lake Park in eastern Ohio offers lakeside RV sites, cabins, a marina, and a fun multi-use trail for biking and hiking. It made a perfect home base for a weekend glampout, and it is a relaxed, scenic spot whether you come for an event or just a quiet few days on the water.

Setting up and the welcome party

We rolled into the beautiful Atwood Lake RV Park, set up our campsite, and hopped on our bikes to ride over to the welcome party. It was great catching up with fellow RVers, including some we had met at the Adventure Bandits Bash not long before. The highlight was the live jazz from RC Smith, plus a special surprise: Miss Belinda from All About the Banks blessed everyone with her beautiful singing voice. That kind of warm, talent-filled kickoff set the tone for the whole weekend.

Day two: cornhole and an 80s party

Day two was packed. The cornhole competition, hosted by Josie and Doris from Playing Outside After 50, was friendly but genuinely competitive, with everyone in high spirits. Then the 80s party kicked off with live music from Old School out of Cleveland, and we danced the night away to the classics. This is the stuff that makes RV meetups special, it feels less like an event and more like a giant family reunion.

Day three: e-bikes and trails

Day three was more relaxed. After a big group photo with everyone at the glampout, we took a scenic ride on our e-bikes through the park trails. One of the things we loved about Atwood Lake Park is its multi-use walking, hiking, and biking trail. It is not super long, but it is a fun ride that winds behind the trees and brings you out at the marina on one end, or near the cabins and the lake on the other.

If you are heading here, our tip: bring your bikes or e-bikes and your walking shoes. The trail is an easy, pretty way to explore the park and get down to the water.

The best part: the community

As the weekend wrapped up, we packed up camp and said our goodbyes to our amazing campsite neighbors. Huge shout-out to Talmage and Ashanti with the Adventure Bandits, and to everyone we met at the glampout. The RV world keeps proving to us that the rigs and the destinations are great, but the people are what bring us back.

Tips for Atwood Lake Park

  • Bring your bikes. The multi-use trail to the marina and lake is a highlight, and e-bikes make it easy.

  • Pack walking shoes too. There is hiking in addition to the bike trail.

  • Come for a community event if you can. A glampout or meetup turns a nice park into an unforgettable weekend.

  • Settle in by the water. The lakeside sites and marina are the heart of the place.
